Childrens eye care

We advise that children should have their first eye examination at around three years old. Learning difficulties can sometimes be caused by uncorrected vision problems so the earlier they are be detected the better the chance of correcting them.

Your child’s sight is precious. 1 in 5 children have an undetected eye problem, often accompanied by warning signs such as sitting too near to the television, or holding a book close up. An eye examination will reveal how their eyesight is developing and provide that essential early warning of possible problems.

If your child is under 16, they are entitled to a free eye test under the NHS system every 12 months (unless there is a clinical reason for this to be done more frequently).

If our test reveals that your child needs glasses, he or she may also qualify for a NHS voucher that entitles them to free standard lenses and a selected range of frames. Alternatively, for an additional charge, they can select frames from our extended ranges, all available at an affordable price.

We have worked hard to keep David Arnolds open for as long as possible but due to the unfolding situation with Coronavirus we have taken the decision to close the practice.

As a result of the Government's advice on social distancing and to mitigate the possible spread of the virus, we are temporarily closing to protect our patients and staff from further risk of infection.

Should you need to make contact with us during this time you can make use of the contact form on our website or, if your query is urgent, by telephone on 0751 386 2986.

We are able to supply duplicate spectacles for any of our existing patients and where possible carry out repairs.

When the time is right, we look forward to welcoming you back. We would like to thank you for your continued loyalty and support during these challenging and uncertain times.
